Hey rev fam, hope you're safe and well. If you're like me, you've drooled over countless social media ads lately with chic tie-dye lounge clothes -- but you don't want to spend your life savings on them.
I needed to try homemade tie-dye (esp. to make a print for a hat!), so I started researching it, saving inspo, watching Youtubes, and finding materials. It was more complicated than I imagined, but my pieces came out terrific. I'm excited to LIVE in these while staying home in quarantine. Aren't they cute?!
The piece that wasn't so hot, sadly, was the "Lisa Frank" inspired x Revelrea Yade Hat that many of you were excited about on Insta. It turned out more of a blurred pastel ombre than a dye look. But, honestly, THIS IS GOOD because our hat material is not designed to absorb moisture like cotton - it's moisture wicking for your workouts.
Since I'm a tie-dye expert now, here's the quarantine TIE-DYE GUIDE I wish I had before starting. Prepare to screenshot.
Hope you love!

Hey hey, Kelsey here! Revelrea had a booth last weekend at the Malibu Half Marathon & 5K race.
OMG, WAS IT A BLAST. I'm here to tell you!
The event is on beautiful Zuma Beach (plenty of sunshine—hello hats!) and attended by mostly female runners. Logistics from DC to Cali were tricky. First I booked a flight (Friday night, redeye Sunday). Then equipment (thank you fast shipping!). I decided to ship some of the hat inventory and pack the rest in a carry-on. After work on Friday, I hopped on the plane to LAX...
Early Saturday I took off for Malibu. I drove into Zuma and setup. It was intimidating, but the organizers were super helpful. This is our lovely booth. Look at that beach backdrop!
At 10am, the expo opened. It was awesome to meet the runners and rewarding to feel the excitement for Revelrea hats.
In the afternoon, Kristin and Christina of Modish Digital visited and helped. Their photography has been instrumental to our launch, and they’ve also become friends. Revelrea cheerleaders, they didn’t require any training to start selling!
That’s a wrap. Later that night, the expo ended and it was time to break down the booth. The day was a huge success. Tons of Revelrea interest! It was one of those days that will be forever etched in memory. I packed the car and watched the beach sunset before driving to my friends' house.
Revelrea ♥ running. I laced up and left, even earlier (4:30am!). I called my new runner friend Aisha Zaza. She lives in Santa Barbara and was also driving to the race. Doesn’t she rock the Yade cap so well?!
We said a quick hello then split up for our races. I floated around the grounds before my 5K started. There were SO MANY Revelrea hats in the crowd! Here are a few...
5K. Let’s gooooo! The race started. I cried happy tears around mile 2.
This is also when it was crucial to have a hat on—the sun was INTENSE!
Finish line. After finishing, Aisha and I met up, took some fun photos, and bopped around the expo.
Beach and pier time. This is what's so amazing about the Malibu race...when you finish, just change into your swimsuit in the car and hang out on Zuma beach!
It was heaven. Around 3pm, I booked it to Malibu Pier for some fish tacos.
Back to DC. I drove back to my friends’ house around 5pm, then got ready for my redeye flight.
On the flight, I slept like a baby with the help of a few melatonin gummies. I woke to the pilot announcing we were 20 minutes to landing at Dulles.
Once home in DC, I changed into work clothes and went in to my day job as a lawyer. I drank a lot of coffee that day.
In the words of Biggie:
THE RACE. What better place to try out the nationwide Rock N’ Roll race series than MUSIC CITY?! This one’s worth a weekend girls’ trip. Runners revel in the spirit of good tunes and an incredible cause, St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The weekend kicks off at the Music City center on Friday followed by races on Saturday. Runners breeze through Nashville’s iconic Honky Tonk strip with lots of live music, signage, and water stations. Plus, the portions of the race highlighting St. Jude make it all the more meaningful and rewarding.
INSIDER TIP. If you’re a beginner, stick to the 5K – we’ve heard the half marathon is pretty hilly and challenging.
WHERE TO STAY. Studio 154 Luxury Hotel, Hilton Nashville Downtown, and Dream Nashville Hotel are solid lodging options for race festivities (and fun afterward!).

THE RACE. With fun princess costumes and no pressure to finish fast, this race is PERFECT for first first-timers. It weaves through multiple Disney parks, through Cinderella’s castle and around the Epcot ball. Don’t let the 13.1 miles scare you – the Disney princess half holds one of the slowest median half marathon times among US races. Probably because the runners have so much fun stopping and taking photos! There’s only one semi-hilly portion, but don’t worry - SPOILER! The Toy Story army men will be pushing you through! Usually this race is sold out a year in advance, but it’s STILL OPEN (the 5K is sold out). If you’re looking for a slow and fun, yet distance-challenging course, this is it.
INSIDER TIP. Go to the EXPO the day before – it’s almost as fun as the race! Wear your race costume there to get the cutest photos, because morning of the race, it’ll be too dark. Also consider hitting up one of the parks the same day, right after the race. If you go to a park the day AFTER your race, you may be too sore.
WHERE TO STAY. Pre-race coffee next to a giraffe? Our intel says Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge rooms with Savannah views are the coolest experience. But more affordable options are great too, for instance, the Hilton Orlando with a lazy river and spa.
March 22, 2020
THE RACE. At the Carlsbad 5000, the energy buzzes as runners try to crush PRs. It’s super inspiring to runners push themselves. But for us party people – relatively beginner runners – the 5K “PARTY PEOPLE RACE” is perfection! The flat course is designed for those who “want to run, walk, or dance for 3.1 miles” while soaking in the beautiful oceanfront vistas. After the finish line, keep the endorphin party going with a “Party by the Sea” festival, full of beer and live music.
INSIDER TIP. What better way to cool tired legs then in the Pacific ocean? After the race head to the water for a dip!
WHERE TO STAY. Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort, Beach Terrace Inn, Ocean Palms Beach Resort are all good options near start and finish, and the beach.
March 20-22, 2020
THE RACE. Beer is your pot (or mug!) of gold at the end of this flat 8K rainbow. This fast and easy 8K finishes with a post-race party on the beach. What’s luckier?
INSIDER TIP. Don't skip out - arrive Friday and attend the full weekend festivities.
WHERE TO STAY. Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront, Oceanfront Inn, and the Hyatt House Virginia Beach Oceanfront.
xo,
Kelsey

...hehe
Blend it all for 30 seconds...
...and top it with cocoa + heart-healthy nuts of choice 🌰🥜
Voila!✨
This recipe is super customizable too. For example--don't like peanut butter? Try almond. Don't like banana? Swap for avocado and/or shaved coconut.
This shake truly satisfies chocolate cravings without the excess sugar, and the protein keeps you full and ENERGIZED longer than breakfast bars and other quick snacks.
Drink up, then throw on a Revelrea hat + sunscreen, and tackle your AWESOME DAY.
nomnomnom,
Kelsey
]]>Hey there! I'm Angela, a featured guest author on the Revelrea Blog. I connected with Revelrea early on through a love of running and hats, of course!
In the last few months, the BOB Revolution Flex Lunar running stroller has basically become an extension of my left arm!
I love that it is both stable and responsive enough that I can push it one handed 98% of the time, which allows me to maintain a relatively normal running form. The big cargo basket has turned out to be really helpful as my son and I need to shed clothing layers, gloves, etc. on longer runs. Another great feature is the UPF 50+ canopy, because it keeps my very fair-skinned strawberry blonde boy safe from the sun while enabling me to keep an eye on him through the plastic viewing window. I'm also stoked on how easy it is to adjust the seating position so that I can quickly recline him when he inevitably falls asleep about 2 miles into the run.
I chose the “Lunar” edition because high-visibility reflective details make me feel safe on evening runs.
Overall, I’d say the best part is how much my babe loves it too - he consistently squeals in excitement when he sees the stroller set up for our runs together.
My one complaint: I did have to buy replacement inner tubes for the tires within the first couple of months of use after running over some thorns, but since buying these heavy duty thorn resistant tubes, I haven’t had a single issue!
